Vincent and his brother Theo famously had a very close relationship. However, you may not know Theo was not his only sibling and the two of them belonged to a family of eight. Theodorus and Anna were Vincent’s parents. His father was a minister and came from a family of prominent art dealers; most notably, Theodorus’ grandfather, whom Vincent was named after. Theodorus and Anna met because their siblings married each other, and they followed suit and married afterwards in 1851 when they moved to Zundert. Vincent was their oldest surviving child born in 1853 in Zundert. He was followed by Anna, Theo, Lies, Willemien, and Cor.
